Comedy

One of my favourite genre. It requires a good scenario, good dialogue, perfect rythm… Comedies must be good or else it doesn’t work. Besides, who doesn’t need a good laugh at the end of the day ?

All the series listed below are series I really liked and I recommend.

• Only murders in the building / Disney+ / Three neighbours who have nothing in common join forces to solve murders. Brillant !
• Friends / Netflix until 2024 / THE CLASSIC that made so many people love series. What to say ? Bravo !
• The good place / Netlfix / Smart and funny, this series about afterlife asks fundamental questions and make you laugh
• Upload / Amazon / An incredible love story between two soulmates, one in real life, the other in virtual reality
• Modern family / Disney+ / Three generations, a dozen of lifestyles… Arguing, caring, supporting themselves. Family…
• Brooklyn 99 / Netflix / The wacky life of a police station. Smarter than it may seem…

Family & Friends, young audience

• Bewitched / no more available ? / One of the oldest series. Samantha is a witch, and that’s not easy for her husband
• Community / Amazon / Seven strangers join a study group, at a lame community college. Through hassles and fun, they form their own community
• Detox or Off the hook / Netflix / Two cousins in their twenties set themselves a challenge : no more internet for a month !
• Jessie / Disney+ / A young woman dreaming to become an actress becomes the nanny of four turbulent children
• Mère / Fille / Disney+ / Isa, 38 years old, Barbara, 14 years old. Between arguments and ruses, two young women.
• Miskina, poor thing / Amazon / Fara, in her 30s, is, by all accounts, a loser. But she is close to her Algerian family, so, everything is possible.
• Never have I ever / Netflix / Devi is a nerdy Indian girl in a californian high-school. A fresh, funny, moral booster series !
• Sex education / Netflix / The son of a sexologist decides to give sex advices in high school to impress a girl
• The big bang theory / Amazon / Four nerds, a cute blonde girl. Everyone will have to step out of their comfort zone…
• The wizards of Waverly place / Disney+ / The parents and their three teenage children. Normal, except the children are wizards.

Romantic comedy

• How I met your mother / Disney+ / New York, the 2000’s. Ted and his group of friends go through the turmoils of young adult’s life
• Nobody wants this : Joanne, used to dead-end relationships, meets Noah, a Rabbi. Against all odds and their respective families, they fall in love
• New girl / Disney+ / Jess shares a flat with three young men and turns their lives upside down.

Murders, investigation & comedy

• Desperate housewives / Disney+ / Four women, best friends, living in the same street, four lifestyles. A smart series, a milestone
• HPI / Disney+ / A mother with an exceptionnal IQ helps the police, with her very own style !
• The Indian detective / Netflix / A constable in the Canadian Police flies to India, his family’s country, and becomes a true detective there
• My lady Jane / Amazon / In a dystopic England, Jane Grey becomes Queen of a nation divided between “normal” humans and metamorphic ones

Radical changes in life, new beginnings, midlife (or late) crisis

• En place / Netflix / A suburban animator becomes a presidential candidate. A funny reflection on politics and democracy
• Fisk / Netflix / A shy lawyer tries to find her place in a very small firm that handles estates
• Grace and Frankie / Netflix / Two women in their seventies are left by their husbands, who remarry together.

• The intern / Disney+ / A 50 years old woman, ex mayor, ex convict, begins a second career as an apprentice judge!
• The Kominsky method / Netflix / An acting coach in his seventies manages his life between drama and happiness
• The rookie / Netflix / A 50 year old man, divorced, begins a second career as a policeman in LAPD
• The unusual suspects / Netflix / A successful influencer, her maid, her neigbours improvise a bold heist as a revenge
• Wellmania / Netflix / A 40 years old woman comes back to Australia, but must improve her health before leaving.
