A few years after the Battle of Endor, the Empire is in disarray, but the New Republic is still very fragile. Grand Admiral Thrawn has disappeared, thanks to Ezra Bridger, who managed to take him with him to another galaxy (see the end of Rebels). But Morgan Elsbeth, one of Thrawn’s loyal supporters, has managed to get her hands on a map that could lead to the admiral. She is aided by two mercenaries: a former Jedi and his apprentice.
Ahsoka Tano, one of the few remaining Jedi, seems to be the only one aware of this threat. She enlists the help of Sabine Wren, her former apprentice with whom she has a complicated relationship, and Hera Scyndulla, now a general. The two young women are determined to do whatever it takes to find Ezra, their friend. But at what cost? The choices and the sacrifices they make will be a heavy burden to bear.
Most series adaptations are definitely better than most of the movies!
Spanning a longer period of time/show, TV series offer something that many films sorely lack, despite their budgets: consistency! Ahsoka thus follows in the footsteps of the superb (and perhaps unrivaled) “Andor” and the magnificent “Rebels.” Both have set the bar very high in terms of action, emotion, and, of course, the Star Wars universe. While it doesn’t quite measure up to them, Ahsoka is still a worthy addition.
It features all the hallmarks of Star Wars: plenty of lightsaber battles, spaceships, droids, exotic creatures, and strange planets. The characters—including the supporting ones, and even the droids—are well-written. Calm and composed, Ahsoka is the complete opposite of her master Anakin and her apprentice Sabine. Opposite her stands Baylan Skoll, who, while capable of showing no mercy, has retained the nuances and certain values of his former order.
I enjoyed following them on their adventures and quests.
