No good deed

Netflix

Lidia and Paul Morgan decide to sell their beautiful house, located in a very good neighbourhood. Three families are interested. JD Morgan, an unemployed actor, ruined himself by giving luxurious gifts to his pretty wife. He needs to downsize. Leslie and her wife Sarah are looking to start a new life after several unsuccessful IVF attempts. Carla and Dennis are expecting their first baby and want a house of their own to raise him.

But Lidia is reluctant to leave behind a place full of memories, even if some of them haunt her. Her son was shot dead in this house, in circumstances that his parents are still trying to conceal. But in the age of social networking, everything is known. The three buyers soon discover the truth. Yet each family has its own reasons for wanting to buy anyway.

Good or not, any deed based on a lie will backfire

All the story is based on a simple assumption : everybody lies. Wether it is for “good” reasons (not to hurt someone), to protect oneself, or to try and conceal things, well… it basically never works out in the end. Around the main plot (the mystery surrounding the son’s death), the lives of four families are intertwined. At the center of this maelstrom, the real estate agent tries to calm and reconcile everyone. Situations and dialogue are funny, yes, but not that funny.

The series’ appeal lies above all in its gallery of characters and its attractive cast. Honor is given to the women, who behave no better than the men. The ultimate victory of emancipation, perhaps…
