Prime Minister Abigail Dalton was elected on a platform of improving the healthcare system. She reduced the military budget in order to increase the health budget. But today, it is facing a shortage of many vital medicines. The English population is under strain. A summit with the French president should enable negotiations on access to essential medicines. As the long-awaited negotiations begin, Abigail receives a terrible threat: her husband has been kidnapped. If she wants to save him, she must resign.

Great suspense, good action, but not the best scenario

The series is particularly noteworthy for its handling of suspense. The plot is well crafted, leaving viewers eager to find out how it ends. The series will also appeal to fans of politics and diplomacy. The mysteries of power, including its human dimension, are at the heart of the story.

However, despite a strong cast, it is difficult to connect with the characters. Perhaps they are too far removed from the life of an ordinary citizen? In addition, the plot sometimes relies on somewhat weak narrative arcs. For example, at the end, characters who know they are in danger hide in a property that is impossible to defend.

The British often make excellent miniseries. Bodyguard, on the same topic, or Bodies with an actor of the cast, are much better! Nevertheless, Hostage remains an enjoyable series for any fan of suspense.
