Mumbai, 1992 : Honey struggles to make a career as an actress. Her friend Bunny, a stuntman, hires her to play a role, seducing a businessman. He wants to create a diversion and steal a technological device from him. But the operation goes wrong. Honey finds out that Bunny is part of a mysterious organization. As they are chased by the victim’s team, Bunny has no choice but to recruit and train Honey, in order to keep her safe.
Nainital, 2000 : Waitress at a restaurant, Bunny does her best to raise her daughter, Nadia. The child is bright, clever and courageous. Her mother has trained her in case they ever need to go into “play mode”. One day, Honey is kidnapped. Nadia runs away, following her mother’s instruction. In Berlin, Bunny learns that Honey is still alive and that they have a daughter.
While the past resurfaces, a new war begins between Citadel and a rival organization.
Never trust anyone…
Citadel Honey Bunny is fidel to Citadel’s signature : a double timeline in each episode, and a mix between action and romance. More dynamic that the quite slow “Citadel, Diana”, Honey Bunny follows in the footsteps of the original series. It depicts the events that shaped Nadia’s childhood and made her the brilliant spy she became. The name of Citadel, as an organization, appears only at the end of episode 4, and you never know for sure what is the rival agency, supported by “the foundation”. What you do know is that, at the exception of Bunny’s two friends, everyone betrays everyone. There are moles, double agents, agents changing sides… everywhere. It’s in this shifting pattern that a strong little girl will make her way.
Finally, let’s note the remarkable effort to reconstitute the technologies available in 1992 and 2000. The first cell phones, the computers of the time, everything is used in the script with precision and aptness. Bravo for tech nostalgia!
